Mark Zuckerberg is now actively conducting meetings in virtual reality with digital avatars of Facebook's executives as the social network's parent company — Meta — has a new focus on building the metaverse, The Wall Street Journal has learned.
According to people familiar with the matter, Zuckerberg has also encouraged others to do the same. With the initiative, Facebook wants to look toward the future and not get "bogged down in the messy past," the report says.

In October, Zuckerberg announced Meta, the new parent company name for Facebook. The company's focus will be to bring the metaverse to life and help people connect, find communities and grow businesses, the company emphasized.
