We used to believe that in the age of artificial intelligence (AI) machines will replace the human workforce. But who would've known that this age has already arrived as the Internet can barely describe which content is written by AI and which is not.
A group of researchers at SEJ published the surprising results of the recent poll where they'd gathered 4 examples of 100 words of content with 3 being written by GPT-3, the language prediction model. Can you guess which text is written by a human here?
If your choice is number 4, you don't need to worry about being replaced with a soulless machine as you made the right guess. Others, surveyed by SEJ, however, choose the wrong examples and even justified their pick, saying that other texts had a "sterile tone of AI tools."
Some even noted that all the above-mentioned texts "sound quite sterile" as content makers today rely too much on SEO methods to gather more traffic.
SEJ says that the majority of respondents across Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn, thought that number 1 was the human-written text, while number 2 had "the least amount of responses." Although AI writers can simplify repetitive tasks, they still aren't good enough to create data-driven material or generate fresh ideas, the report concluded.
