TikTok might be developing a set of new features for creators, TechCrunch reports, citing social media analyst Matt Navarra.

The analyst says the Chinese social network is actively developing TikTok Avatars, a feature that allows users to digitize their selfies into 3D avatars.

Besides avatars, TikTok is reportedly also working on keyword filtering for the For You Page, group chats, audio-only live streams and Twitch-like subscription.

However, there's no official confirmation regarding whether these features will be released or not.

A spokesperson for TikTok confirmed that the features are indeed being considered, however, no final decision on them has been made so far.

Meanwhile, TikTok started playing a big role for indie artists as fans on the social network are connecting with creators "in a different way," notes Andreea Gleeson, CEO of TuneCore.

As a result, young artists prefer to get 100% of the royalties from streaming their songs instead of dealing with record labels.
