"completely replace any website,"
Telegram said in a blog post.
Developers can already study the Bot API documentation to learn more about new changes. What is more, is that creators can change interfaces to match a user’s theme in real-time with other settings.
Besides bots, the update also brought a new auto-delete menu in profiles, custom mute durations (up to 2 days), new notification sounds, more animated emojis (food only), and so on.
Founded by brothers Pavel and Nikolai Durov, Telegram is now more than just a messenger. The app already supports processing payments via 15 integrated payment providers, including Google Pay and Apple Pay and "millions of people" have already utilized them since 2015, the company added in the announcement.
The update comes a few days after Forbes included Pavel Durov in its list of "billionaires with ties to Russia." However, a spokesperson noted to the media that Durov left Russia "many years ago with no intention to return." Durov currently lives in Dubai—just where Telegram is based as well—and earlier became a French citizen.
