Instagram may soon add support for non-fungible tokens (NFTs), the company’s head Adam Mosseri said during an AMA via his Instagram account. While no details were given, Mosseri said the company wants to find out how it can make NFTs “more accessible to a wider audience.”
“Nothing to announce yet but we are definitely actively exploring NFTs and how we can make them more accessible to a wider audience,” he said.
The Instagram CEO also pointed out he considers NFTs as “an interesting place” where the Menlo Park-based social network can play and to “hopefully help creators.”
In October, app researcher Alessandro Paluzzi tweeted the company is working on the so-called "collectibles" feature. It remains unclear though how and in what form Instagram plans to integrate NFTs and how users will be able to interact with them.
