Facebook has extended its short-form video content feature called Reels in over 150 countries to challenge the TikTok threat, TechCrunch reports. Besides Reels, Facebook also introduced more tools for creators to make money with the platform.

To reach a broader audience, Facebook is reportedly also testing Reels Overlay Ads to all creators in the US, Canada and Mexico. By the end of the first quarter, Meta plans to expand the test to nearly all the countries where in-stream ads are available.

During the tests, creators could use two ad formats: banners and stickers. Meta also said it will give 55% of the revenue to the creator and 45% to Facebook. However, it remains unclear if the company plans to proceed with this ratio after the tests.

Moreover, creators could also distribute their content from Reels with Stars, a feature that allows creators to monetize live videos. In addition to Stars, Facebook will also roll out Remix, 60-second Reels, Draft and Video Clipping in the weeks ahead.
