Decentraland, a digital world based on Ethereum, is going to get a 3D version of One Time Square. According to a press release, the initiative is supported by CoinDesk's owner Digital Currency Group (DCG) and real estate firm Jamestown.
It is worth noting that DCG is also one of the largest owners of Decentraland's virtual land. Michael Phillips, President of Jamestown, said:
Recreating One Times Square in the Decentraland metaverse is part of a larger digital asset strategy to evolve and enhance our physical real estate for Web 3.0 and open new pathways for our assets to exist in multiple metaverses in the future.
The event is expected to be launched in Decentraland on New Year’s Eve with the MetaFest 2022 party. Official programming will begin at 11:00 p.m. EST and continue into the early hours of 2022.
